'태권도 열기로 가득찬 잊지 못할 1주일'

[외국인으로서종주국 태권도대회를 접한 소감문 ①]

태권도진흥재단(이사장 이대순, TPF)은 세계 여러 나라에 태권도 보급 일환으로 지난해부터 세계태권도연맹(WTF)의 추천을 받아 각 나라의 현지 태권도 인을 초청해 6개월간 한국어 및 태권도 전문교육을 실시하고 있다.

올해는 파키스탄, 방글라데시, 니제르 등에서 각 한명씩 참가하고 있다. 특히 이들은 지난 달 무주와 춘천에서 각각 열린 세계태권도문화엑스포와 춘천오픈국제대회 등에 참가해 우수한 성적을 거뒀다.

이에 두 대회에 참가한 교육생들이 ‘외국인으로서 종주국 태권도대회를 접한 소감문’을 <무카스뉴스>에 보내와 소개하고자 한다.

카릴 자브란(파키스탄)

파키스탄에서 온 부족한 태권도인으로써 태권도의 열기로 가득찬 잊지 못할 7일간의 경험은 나에게 명예로운 일이었다. 나는 마스터 레벨인 국기원 6단이고 30여년의 태권도 경력을 가지고 있지만 무주 태권도문화엑스포와 춘천오픈 국제 태권도대회에서 보낸 시간들은 내 인생에 가장 흥미롭고 좋았던 시간들 중 하나였다.

이번 대회에 대한 나의 호기심과 열정은 태권도진흥재단으로부터 대회참가가 확정되었다는 소식을 들은 후로 급격히 커져갔다. 나는 1988년부터 많은 태권도관련 행사와 대회에 참가하였는데, 전에 없이 무엇이 나를 이토록 흥분케 하였는지 알 수 없었다.

나는 나의 태권도로 굶주린 몸과 마음을 채워줄 진짜 태권도의 열기를 경험했다.

무주로 떠나기 이주일 전부터 대회의 능동적인 참가자가 되기 위하여 준비하여왔다. 밤낮으로 종일 연습을 하였고, 심지어 태권도엑스포 경기장에서 경연하고 있는 나를 보는 꿈을 꾸기도 하였다.

나는 27일 태권도진흥재단 초청으로 6개월 동안 한국에 머물면서 태권도를 수련하고 있는 다른 문화동반자 두 명과 함께 1주일간의 대장정의 길에 올랐다.
두 대회 모두 40여 개국 이상에서 온 1,000여명의 참가자들과 많은 관중들이 함께 있었지만, 교통, 숙박, 대회운영 등 모든 것이 대회참가자들의 편의 위주로 이루어져 불편 없이 지낼 수 있었다.

나는 두 대회를 통해서 새롭게 사귄 여러 나라에서 온 친구들과 함께 식사를 하며 즐거운 시간을 보냈다. 단지 태권도 하나로 다른 지역, 다른 문화, 다른 언어를 가진 다른 인종의 사람들이 가족처럼 손을 잡고 함께 어울릴 수 있다는 것은 정말 신기하고도 놀라운 일이 아닌가? 이번 두 대회는 세계 여러 나라에서 온 많은 참가자들과 함께 이국땅에서 내가 전혀 이방인이라고 느끼지 않을 수 있는 하나의 커뮤니티, 하나의 세계를 향한 예였다. 나는 태권도 인으로서 이번 대회에 참가하게 된 것을 자랑스럽게 생각한다.

무주에서 대회가 끝난 뒤 태권도공원 조성 예정지를 방문했다.
향후에 태권도공원이 조성될 그곳은 나를 황홀하게 하였다. 뛰어난 자원경관, 평화롭고 아름다움, 그리고 마음속에서 태권도가 살아 숨 쉴 수 있도록 어떤 정신적인 것을 제공할 것만 같은 신비함, 이 세 가지가 무주가 태권도공원 조성지로 선정된 가장 중요한 요소라고 생각된다. 전 세계 태권도인을 위한 진정한 태권도의 장을 조성하고 있는 많은 분들의 노력에 감사하는 마음을 금할 수 없었다.

끝으로 대회장으로 떠나는 버스에서부터 집에 돌아오는 마지막 날까지 함께 하며, 이번 대회를 통하여 대회운영 및 훈련방법 등 많은 것들을 경험할 수 있도록 도와주신 태권도진흥재단 관계자들과 세계태권도연맹 유해민 부장에게 진심으로 감사를 드린다.

또한 이 자리를 빌려 이 두 대회를 조직, 관리하시고 도움을 주신 모든 분들과 내가 이번 이벤트에 참가할 수 있도록 도와주신 많은 분들에게 다시 한 번 감사를 드리고 싶다.

ONE WEEK IN TAEKWONDO FEVER

It was honor for Little Master Khalil Jabran from Pakistan to spend the unforgettable and memorable 7days~7nights in Taekwondo fever. Although I have 6th Dan Certification from Kukkiwon, Master level Qualification and during my 30 years Taekwondo carrier, It was one of the most excellent and exciting times of my life that I have spent in Muju WorldTaekwondo Culture Expo 2007.

My curiosity and enthusiasm start from the day I had been confirmed to attend these events from the TPF. Since 1988 I have participated in many world events and Taekwondo championships but don’t know why I was more excited and crazy to attend this world class expo.

I experienced the real Taekwondo fever in my Taekwondo hungry body and soul.

Two weeks before leaving I have started the preparations and hard training to be an active participant in this event. Not only whole the day I spent in practicing but also even in the night I was showing my skill in the expo ring 1st the world taekwondo culture expo in my dreams.

From the day I was riding the bus among other participants and moving toward our destination till to the day I was coming back I really felt great appreciation for the TPF who has provided me this opportunity to attend this great expo and to experience a very good example ofmanagement and discipline which has been shown in the events.

Here I do like to express my gratitude to all the organizers, assemblers, supporters and to the people who made me to attend these events.

Although there were less or more over 40 countries and less or more over 1,000 participants along with a very heavy crowd of spectators from all over the world, everything including transportation, accommodation, management along with the efforts to facilitate the participants was really admirable.

More over I was really enjoying by eating different kinds of delicious Korean foods along with master yoo hai min, chul min kim andInternational newly made friends. It was really a great experience and a mysterious opportunity to have such a big get together among different communities, different people from different areas of the world, from different races and from different cultures with different languages all having hands in hands being a member of Taekwondo Family on a one platform Taekwondo.

Here I really feel honored to be a member of this Taekwondo Family and I can say this expo was really a great example of one world one community where I didn’t felt myself stranger among so many different countries participants.

Further the place which has been selected for Taekwondo Park Muju really fascinated me a lot and I couldn’t stop myself to admire such a great effort to make a real platform for the whole Taekwondo Family around the world. Natural scenery, peace, beauty and cam which always provides the high spirit to keep Taekwondo alive in one’s soul were three most inspiring elements in the selection of location, especiallyneed to appreciate in tremendous words.

Being a participant I felt myself very much comfortable.
